KDJLaw appoints Guna Selan Marian and Cheah Chiew Lan

KDJLaw has recently made two new appointments for its Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group.
Mr. Guna Selan Marian a well recognised figure in the field of enforcement in Malaysia has been appointed as an enforcement consultant. He has vast experience specifically in enforcement involving intellectual property rights, anti profiteering, price control, investigation and prosecution of IP offences. Most recently, Guna has been appointed to the National Consumer Advisory Council by the Minister of MDTCC.
Guna Selan has dealt with intellectual property rights enforcement for a major part of his career. A recognised figure in the IP industry, he has represented Malaysia in various IP meetings at the ASEAN region. He held several key positions at State and Federal levels, the last position held by Guna before he left the government sector was the Head of Supplies, Price Control and Anti – Profiteering, Enforcement Division of MDTCC.
KDJLaw’s IP Tech Practice Group, jointly headed by Brian Law and Suaran Singh Sidhu are delighted to have Mr Guna Selan on board.

The firm has also recruited another experienced IP Partner, Cheah Chiew Lan to join the team. She has advised clients from a diverse range of sectors including automotive, pharmaceutical, consumer products, food and beverage, luxury products, fashion and retail.
“We are pleased to have Chiew Lan join us. She brings with her ample experience on transactional IP matters such as licensing, franchising, regulatory advice for food, drug and labelling laws as well as data protection and privacy issues.” added Law and Sidhu.
Chiew Lan assists clients in creating, protecting, commercialising and enforcing various types of IP work including trade mark, design, domain name, geographical indication and copyright.
She brings with her over 17 years of experience and has been ranked a leading lawyer in IP by Asialaw.
Chiew Lan is the immediate past President of the Licensing Executives Society of Malaysia (LESM). She joins KDJLaw from ZICO Law.
